Post-dive chat between Raxafarian and I led to an interesting thought that we think has real potential...

Would people be at all interested in a trip to Foxwoods? You know...for the wonder of it all?

C'mon...let's try to organize a Sat. night fiesta at Foxwoods sometime soon.

Thoughts?

I can't allow myself anywhere near the cassinos. The draw is jsut tooooo strong.

yeah, I'll double down, I'll split those eights, I'll hit on the 15 with a 6 showing.

I got problems.....

I've only been once. We decided to empty the Fishy-Bank (yes, I've had it since BEFORE we started diving!) of Quarters, and took a tupper-ware of Slot Money (Maybe $25.00 Total). We cycled thru it a few times, and then I hit for $225. I put in one more to clear the machine, and walked away.

That's the only way I'll go to a casino - with a defined "entertainment" fund, and not a penny more.

I figure, anyone who can walk in there, look around at all the $$$$ the proprietors have to spend, and think "Yeah, I can walk out of here a winner - I'm sure of it!" is completely unable to face reality.

But it's a pretty good show if you know when to stop!

After several years of observation I have finally discovered the technique.

Go in with enough money to eat at the buffet.
Eat the buffet, leaning heavily on the crab legs/claws, lobster and shrimp to maximize protein and minimize calories.

After eating the table game subsidized buffet and enjoying a leisurely discussion with your friends for 3 or 4 hours, depart the casino without stopping at the slots or table games.

Works every time!

sounds like a plan. I have been known to dabble a little with craps and the slots, so count me in.

FredT once bubbled...

If you like Blackjack... Get there really early (9 am), jump on the $5 tables, stay put... the tables' minimum bet goes up but you get grandfathered in at $5 as long as you don't leave the table for more than 20 min. and when you leave make sure they hold your spot. I have played all day like this...

Not at Foxwoods... Has to be one of the most expensive casinos to eat at. There just isn't much competition around, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun are the only casinos around and they're a good ways apart from each other. A bufet at Foxwoods will run you ~$15. You're better off making up for the $$ lost gambling with the free drinks! Although that doesn't work that well if you have to drive back (which at Foxwoods you do, unless you're staying at their hotel). So get a designated driver before you go, and then knock yourself out! :)

But I'd be game. Sometime in mid-November, anyone?
