I was sitting in a sand patch with a student, checking his gear configuration. Another diver group is on the surface, and have somehow drifted directly atop our location. Out of the corner of my eye I catch a glimmer from the surface (40 feet up).

A four pound lead weight misses hitting my student in the head by six inches. It hits the sand and makes a little sediment plume. Student never sees how close he got to being beaned in the head.

I would have LOVED to get that moment frozen on film.
