Then and Now: A True Story...In 1976 college student Jim Elliott painted his 1964 Chevy Nova Red White and Blue to celebrate America's 200th anniversary. After a three week California road trip in his "Captain America" mobile he returned to Downers Grove, Illinois on the 4th of July just as the annual parade was starting. He pulled up to the crowd that was blocking access to main street as they were observing the parade and said "you guys, i'm so sorry, i'm late for the parade could you let me in." The crowd gladly parted to let the Patriotic vehicle enter the parade between floats. This 4th of July, Elliott didn't have to "crash" the parade as he was legitimately invited to participate in the parade as the head of Diveheart, the Downers Grove based non profit that he founded in 2001. Though much has changed since that first parade in 1976, one thing remains the same...The vehicles he drives continue to make a statement. #freedom #liberty #weightless #scubatherapy #rehabilitation #therapy#physicaltherapy #occupationaltherapy #innerspace #aquanaut #charity#nonprofit
