My computer, mask, and fins are looking a bit beat up, but I guess that just shows that I'm no longer a total noob.

There are always new shiny baubles to lust after and then dance around with!
 
First, second and third : fit!

Your mask should fit perfectly, otherwise it will spoil the whole experience for you.

As far as the rest of your kit goes, check with experienced divers.
Ask them what they use, why they use it, what the advantages and disadvantages are. It will save you a lot of annoyance and money later.
