NWGratefulDiver:
Something I didn't see anybody mention ... slow down.
Buddy lines ... it's fashioned out of about 6-feet of 3/8" bungee.
... Bob (Grateful Diver)

Bungee works good for me, but I make 'em 12 feet long "at rest". Many mountaineering toys ar scuba adaptable.

We also use 6-10' lengths of industrial grade fiberglass reinforced flourescent orange flagging tape. Thread one knotted end of these thru your fin spring or strap- no need to tie it if that would make you nervous- It just leaves a trailing ribbon aft of your wake. A nice reference for a buddy.

I have been diving on many "fresh wrecks" and this has proven to be a good trail marker, if you will.

Consistently timed rearward projections of your light if you are in the lead are always welcomed by divers trailing.
