Diver dies in exercise at quarry | This is Leicestershire
A diver has died after getting into difficulty at Stoney Cove.
The incident happened at the diving centre, near Stoney Stanton, on Saturday.
A spokesman for Stoney Cove said: "A group of qualified divers went into Stoney Cove water to undertake an advanced training dive under the instruction of a professional dive training school from Stansted, in Essex.
"They were not under instruction or under the supervision of Stoney Cove.
"During the dive, one of the divers experienced some difficulty and his buddy assisted him to the surface. On reaching the surface the divers called for help and Stoney Cove's rescue team responded immediately.
"East Midlands Ambulance Service and the police were called to assist.
"Tragically, the diver involved could not be revived. The Health and Safety Executive has been informed."

Bummer, another death at Stoney.

Any more info?

Often Stoney deaths are medically related, and due to exercise rather than diving per se. They have had more than their fair share of heart attack deaths over the years. They must be at about 27 deaths or so now, anybody know the exact number?

However, they do have thousands of dives a week, so probably their accident rate is pretty low, and with the emergency facilities they have, their survival rate is probably better than many places.
