Transportation to/from Coz airport & Occidental

How much is the shuttle to the Occidental? From the airport to Blue Angel recently was only US$11 per person, which is not enough of a hit to warrant going to the airport ATM to get pesos in addition to the rest of the task loading associated with arriving in Cozumel.

We go there often (as you do too) and we always bring home pesos so that we have enough for a day or two next time we arrive. We just came back a few days with 2500 pesos, about $150, which will cover our shuttle and a couple restaurant meals next time we go. Takes away the urgency to find an ATM.

There are ATM's at the airport. Leave the arrival area walk about 20 yards east and go into the departure area. There is a cluster of legitimate bank ATM's to the left near the restrooms. The Banamex machine charges 31.8 Pesos service fee (1.75 USD) and the actual exchange rate is set by your home bank.

Unless you bank with some local farm credit union that hasn't moved into the 21st century, your bank uses the daily Visa exchange rate.

Howdy all,

We are booked at the Occidental in June and there will be four of us (2 adults & 2 kids). What would be the recommended service to use to reliably get 4 people and a nice stack of luggage back and forth? We are booked for 18 nights so we will have a pile of luggage with dive & snorkel gear plus the normal stuff! Thinking it will need to be a van of some sort.

I received info from Barcelo group/Occidental that their service would be 274.00 USD round trip for the four of us. Seems kinda high to me. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

Just dothe shared van at $208 peso x 4. Not a big deal. It takes an extra 10 minutes, 15 tops and save $$.

I pay the shuttle in US$ and head to the Palacio Municipale for pesos the day we arrive.

Which is still set by your bank. If they choose the daily visa rate they are giving their customers a very good rate just slightly below inter bank full FOREX rates. They could also set any arbitrary rate they want. Most do use the ‘Visa’ rate but some also tack on foreign transaction fees.
