I also posted this in Accidents & Incidents.
After a friend went missing, my wife and I have purchased and traveled with PLBs. We also have a Nautilus lifeline.
We are leaving to Fiji this week, and our dive operator told us to leave them at home. Fiji customs will confiscate anything that looks like a radio transceiver.
From Fiji Revenue & Customs website:
Radio Transmitters and Telecommunications Equipment
Radio transmitters and telecommunications equipment is a restricted import and subject to import permit from the Telecommunication Authority of Fiji.
Before considering the purchase and importation of radio transmitters, cordless and cellular phones, and similar equipment, check with the Telecommunications Authority of Fiji that the devices meet Fiji technical standards.
My question, has anybody brought a PLB or Nautilus Lifeline into Fiji?
