Otherwise, I will presume that you have permission to use the name "scubaboard" for your instagram stuff.
Did a little quick checking online. If I understand correctly, Caicos is not one of those 'cruise ship playground' type destinations with lots of excursions? People diss cruise ships, but areas pandering to that market often offer a range of activities - jungle hikes, ATV group rides, horse back riding, Mayan ruin tours, parasailing, etc...
So, aside from a beautiful beach scene (I am not a beach person) and eating well at restaurants, what else besides diving do the tourists do there?
I focus on this because in other posts, people more familiar with the place have indicated T&C is a rather expensive destination by Caribbean standards, rather like the Cayman Islands. With the Caymans, you can get the cruise ship playground (Grand Cayman) or take a puddle jumper & do rustic (Little Cayman or Cayman Brac), and get great diving. But I don't hear people talking up the great restaurants on L.C. or C.B.; rather how nice the buffet food is at LCBR or CBBR dive resorts. I've read a live-aboard is the way to go for the best Turks & Caicos diving .
So, for the prospective tourist sizing up Turks & Caicos, is there a compelling reason to go there instead of one of the Cayman Islands? Or what are you missing out if you do T&C by live-aboard? Just good restaurants & a pretty beach, or is there more to it?
Richard.
I just got back from my trip to Provo. I dove with Aqua TCI and completed my PADI Advanced Open Water Certification with them and got in few extra recreational dives as well. I had a great experience with this dive outfit - very buttoned up operation.Great beach photos! I don't know who you are using for diving but Dive Provo was pretty open to suggestions regarding dive sites. My third day (I haven't wrote about those 2 dives yet) Was at West Caicos as well and I talked to them about where I've dove already and they made sure not to do those sites again. So if you read my blog and some of the sites sounds interesting to you then I recommend asking about visiting them. May will bring different weather than I had in March so you might have even more variety.

From initial contact, they were extremely responsive and provided thorough answers to all of my questions and tips on how to best plan the dive schedule. They picked me up at the hotel promptly each morning, briefed everyone on the boat itself and basic safety and got away from the dock quickly - as a result, we were typically one of the first boats at the dive sites - which was a great way to start the day! The boat was very comfortable with easy water entry/exit and plenty of space for gear and setup (pretty wide beam boat). The fact that they limit the maximum to 10 divers (8 guided and up to 2 students) makes for a pleasant experience both on the boat and in the water!
The dive briefings were thorough and they allowed divers maximum bottom time based on their experience/air consumption - most dives were about 60 minutes! We dove in West Caicos and French Cay - great sites with dramatic walls and plenty of "critters" including reef sharks (especially at Double D and G spot in French Cay - see below).
The owners/operators, Stephanie and Bill, were very personable and attentive. Stephanie was my instructor for the AOW and was fantastic - she gave me great feedback and many tips on tweaking my technique that really improved my diving in the week: In fact, I broke though the 60 minute dive time for the first time with them which was a milestone for me!
They run a great operation and I would highly recommend them to anyone diving in Provo!
Awwww Such a nice thing to say! Besides the diving, the best thing about my job is getting to meet so many awesome people!I'm just going to throw some love on Mia Toose! I got to know her a little bit on my trip at T&C and think she's a pretty special person. If you get the chance to get to know her too, it's a " very good thing", as the saying goes.
