My sweet:heart: made a cake for my birthday, with an underwater scene. That thing on top is a couple of coupling starfish, inspired by a photo.:10: White chocolate sand dollars and shells.

I'm just happy that my first impression when reading the thread title was wrong.:D

Undersea birthday cake, like underwater pumpkin carving. :11:

What's inside? and what are the shells made of? Did she follow a recipe?

I'll step in here, I'm the one that made the cake and I actually had not even seen this thread before today. The cake was white store bought cake mix, 3 layers with chocolate genache and buttercream between them. The cake was iced with buttercream while frozen to seal in the moisture. The shells and starfish were white chocolate in molds with shimmer dust sprinkled on. The bubbles and other trim and top coat of cake were home made marshmallow fondant (bubbles were mixed fondant and gum paste). The fish was gumpaste. It was fun to make!
