Ever wondered what’s right under the swimmers at one of the country’s busiest beaches? Join Heal the Bay and Eco Dive Center for International Coastal Clean-Up day and get in a day of diving at the Santa Monica Pier!

Eco Dive Center is sponsoring this special underwater clean-up and unique diving opportunity. Grab a collection bag, a tank and come up with as much trash a possible. You’ll dive a rare site and make the ocean a little better for us all. (Non-divers are welcome to come and participate in the beach clean-up!)

Coastal Clean-Up Day is Saturday, September 17. The Santa Monica Beach clean-up will be from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. All participants must register with Heal the Bay and complete a liability waiver. You can download the waiver from www.HealtheBay.org in advance and bring it to the Eco Dive Center tent the day of the event or fill one out on site. Be sure to bring your C-card and DAN insurance, too!

If you have any questions, need to rent gear, or want to learn more about Coastal Clean-Up Day, call Eco Dive Center at (310) 398-5759 or email brian@nospam.ecodivecenter.com.

Hang out after the dives for a group picture and some special recognition!

I would imagine that clean up around a pier would be a big job. I betcha people throw just about anything off a pier. Maybe you could have contest for the weirdest things found.
Good luck with this project, it sound very admirable.

Is it normal for these types of events to require DAN insurance?

Just curious.
