Hi,

what would b d the best brand for universal camera housings.

thx 4 d inputs

I think the closest thing you'll find to a "universal" housing is either the Ocean Images Dolphin Pro or the TopDawg II. Both house a wide variety of Sony cameras as long as the camera has a LANC or A/V Remote port. USVH also makes three models that fit a wide variety of Sony cameras.

For HDV, the most universal housing I've seen recently is the L&M Stingray HD. It has a mounting plate designed to be used with most current Sony HDV models.

Non-Sony cameras typically require a more proprietary housing as the controls are always mechanical and camera specific. Rarely can similar models use the same housing.

A less expensive option is made by Aquatix. They have a electro-magnetic camera control feature to start/stop most cameras. But their better controls are Sony-specific also.
