The dive site Vaersenbay in Curaçao had a bad reputation for the last few years because of frequent break-ins in the parked cars. Also all facilities were gone after the effects of the passing of hurricane Omar to the North of Curaçao. All this has changed completely. The beach has got a complete face-lift. Everything above the waterline has had an upgrade. Even the name has changed to Kokomo beach to reflect this renovation and new style. The diving is as good as it always was. There is a dive operator on-site.

Check this link for pictures and information about the current state of this location and, if you are visiting Curaçao, don't forget to check it out yourself.

Nice, always liked diving Varsenbaii, even past few times with no facilities. Really looks great now. Gustele, do you know if there is a basic charge just to dive there now (like Porto marie)??? Will be in CUR in 12 days.... Can't wait.

can't wait to go there again. i loved vaarsenbai and was disappointed when it was closed.

Jeepguy, there is currently no basic charge for divers; also the entrance to the sea and beach is free. There is a fee for the use of facilities at the beach. And the dive op at Vaersenbay is (in the process of) charging dive operators who go diving at Vaersenbay for training or a guided dive for each diver in their group. The charge is the same as at Porto Marie.
If you rent gear (tank or any other dive gear) at the dive shop at Vaersenbay or if you do a guided dive with the dive op on-site or if you go diving there with your own buddy then there is no charge.

Thanks for the info, Gustele. Really looks like they did a great job with the improvements. We will have to check it out!!!:cool2:
