A while ago I purchased the Athena Dome port OPD F100 EPO8 to use with the Panasonic 8mm on my EM1 in the Olympus PTEP11 housing. The Athena home page advertised ( and still does) that this port could be used with both the PTEP08 and PTEP11 housings as they shared the same mount. After preliminary testing in the pool, I noticed vignetting on the corners and contacted the vendor ( Divervision) who in turn contacted Athena. The response was interesting. Athena said that the reason it vignettes is that Olympus have changed the flange distances (distance between the camera lens mount and the housing port mount) in the two housings. The epo8 is 39.5mm while the ep11 is 41.5mm, a difference of 2 mm they say was necessary to accommodate the hand grip of the em1. While 2 mm would make little difference in a flat port, it is significant enough to show on the Panasonic 8 mm fisheye. So buyer beware. The dome port does fit both housings, but you will lose the corners in the ep11 housing. I wonder what effect the 2 mm difference between the two housings will have on the new Olympus 8 mm and their own dome port ? I will post some images as soon as I work out how.
