I'm hoping someone here can help me. My Dad's birthday is coming up and I want to get him something I think he might like. He collects vintage diving gear and there's a Darrell Allan Sport Diver 250 flashlight on eBay I want to bid on. My problem is I don't know what it's worth and will be out of town with no computer access when the auction ends. I'd like to put in a maximum bid before I leave and hope for the best. I did a search for one in the completed listings, but came up empty. Anyone have any idea how much these generally go for? By the way, the listing says it's plastic, not aluminum like the real old ones. Don't know if that makes a difference in value or not.

I had one of these in the 1970s, and then left it on a rock reef off Newport, Oregon in about 60 feet of water. It's probably still good if someone finds it.

I got one on E-bay a few years ago, and I think I only paid about $25 for it. Mine was not in quite as good a condition, with deteriorated batteries inside. I wouldn't pay more than about $35 for it, and if you are low and don't get it, PM me as the one I have is one I have not gotten around to working on yet.

Thanks so much for the information and the offer. I'm happy that it won't cost as much as I was imagining. I tend to interpret vintage as expensive, which I guess isn't always the case. I'm sure it depends on the rarity/scarcity of an item.
