According to Vortex's web site they offer the NACD Cavern course there at the spring. Don't know who the instructor(s) is/are.MikeFerrara:I'm not clear on what you mean by " at vortex". I know lots of people who have taken NACD training (including myself). I know some people who have done portions of the training at vortex.
Is vortex offering cavern training? Who is the instructor?
IMO, Vortex doesn't have much of a caver. As soon as you turn the corner at the stop sign, you're pretty much out of the cavern zone and into the cave zone and there isn't much cavern outside the cave entrance.
That's not to say that it wouldn't be useful for training in a pinch but someplace like Peacock would be a lot nicer.
chickdiver:I would recommend going elsewhere for Cavern training. I won't teach Cavern at Vortex unless I absolutely, positively do not have any other option. The cavern there has been so altered by man as to be almost unusable for Cavern training. It is an exceptionally inferior training site in my opinion.
