We took Air Pacific from LAX on Thursday night, March 11th. Usual crowded plane but upstairs was very lightly populated. They wouldn't allow us to change seats though. Trying to keep from cleaning the upstairs? We got an upgrade on the way home for $600 each. Expensive, but worth it to get a nights sleep.

Arrived in Nadi early morning on Saturday. Bus was there to greet us and another group. Long bus ride of 2 1/2 hours through the countryside to Wananavu. Warm welcome to the resort and lunch awaiting us. We were 9 divers, but they added another couple from Canada to our group. They turned out to be a delightful couple and merged very well.

We got a beachfront bure. Very well laid out, very comfortable, although the air conditioner couldn't keep up with the noon time heat, it was cold enough to turn off during the night. Some of us got ocean view bures and they were very nice as well. The view from the resort is spectaular, the pool nice, and the grounds beautiful. The service was impeccable granting your every wish. All of the staff knew everyone's name after the first day.

The food was excellent and varied. Fresh curry, fish, and pasta every night. We got the all inclusive package with all meals included. Very nice package.

We had been to Beqa before and also did a liveaboard that dove the Bligh Waters. I have to say this resort had the best of both worlds. The resort was much nicer than Marlin Bay on Beqa and we got to dive the Bligh Waters most of the time.

The diving: We had a 10 night package with 8 days of 2 tank dives. Unfortunately, Cyclone Tomas came at us the first two days and we lost 2 days of diving. However, Ra Divers made up the dives by offering 3 tank dives the rest of the week. We actually went over our 16 dive package with no extra charges. Class act, RA Divers!

The first day diving was inside the reef because it was still too rough outside because of the storm remnants. Poor visibility but excellent coral and fish life. The rest of the week we were able to go outside the passage to the Bligh Waters. While the vis was still on the low side for this area, the diving was spectacular! Beautiful hard and soft corals, fish life in abundance, sharks on almost every dive.

We will definitely return to Wananavu in the future.

I'm headed there in the next couple of weeks.....how were the water temps? and when you got out to the Bligh waters was the boat ride OK or pretty rough?

Water temps were 82 - 84 degrees. The boat ride to the Bligh Waters was fine. The smaller boat of Ra Divers was faster and wet if you don't get a seat inside, but has a much easier ladder to get back in the boat. The bigger boat is dry, slower, and has very dangerous ladders if it is bumpy. Ra Divers is taking deliver of a 3rd boat in April.

Wow - great pictures! Wheat Field is on my 'must dive' list now! :D

From full report:
Rachel of Wananavu advises that there is no promise that divers will go to the Bligh... That could be a major disappointment for folks showing up when the op is not well-booked, or when there are differing agendas amongst the passengers.

So true, we spent three days diving there last year, and didn't get out to Bligh.

Thanks for the link....I'll be there in a little over 2 weeks...hope that water stays warm and made a note of the dive sites in the Bligh waters!

M:)y favorites were Black Magic Mountain, Mellow Yellow and Wheatfields. Inside the reef, you have to do Breathtaker; mucho gray reef and whitetip sharks.
