Wow!! That just doesnt seem possible! Thats definetley something to celebrate about!! :D

Holy jack mackerel, batman... no wonder the waters are so crowded. Imagine what a lobby we could form to effect dive-related and marine environment issues. Oh, wait... we're not supposed to get political.

Congrats to NetDoc and the rest of the staff!

So what does our 70,000th Member win?

And

Who is it?

Chris,

since you do advertising sales on Scubaboard, you can prob answer this.

Obvisousely more members means more hits on ads and advertising is sold based on that.....

So what is the major portals that direct new members or guests to Scubaboard?

Is it any particular group of sites? search engines? member referrals (officially or via just telling a friend.) or other?

just curious....

EDIT:
Since someone asked who member 70,000 was. here they are. (See URL)
Also, it appears that member ID 70,000 joined in October? (and not today?)

I don't think user IDs are recycled when a user is deleted, so that's not entirely accurate.

Also, I came to scubaboard from word of mouth, but mainly becuase it's managed to become "the" messageboard for scuba diving. Very active, very large, with many different areas... Most other messageboards are either specialized towards one aspect or area of scuba diving, or are simply inactive due to the small size of them.

If all of the 70,000 members jump into the water at the same time, that would create a major Tsunami :rofl3: :rofl3: :rofl3:
