After almost three years of operation, Colorado's Ocean Journey, an absolutely gorgeous “aquarium” In Denver will close its doors on April 2nd. Why I have aquarium in quotes is that it was much more than that, showcasing the entire ecosystem located around and at the termination of two rivers, the Colorado River located in the Southwest United States and the Kampar River located on the Island of Sumatra. Because it featured the entire ecosystem, guests were pleasantly surprised when they discovered that this “aquarium” had river otters, sea otters, a free flight aviary and three Sumatran Tigers!

I’ve been a volunteer at the COJ for over two years, and a volunteer diver for over a year.

I will deeply miss the people, the animals and the wonderful environment that the aquarium fostered.

I didn’t realize how much I had grown to love COJ until I heard the news.
