What is Grey Market? Leisurepro supposedly gets stuff from them ...

Aqua Lung has a warning on their site about Leisurepro. It reads that aqua lung products being sold on Leisurepro are have been gotten from "Grey Market." Can anyone tell me what the hell that means? Does that mean that its a fake product? Or does that mean that the manufacturer who manufactures products for Aqua Lung is making the same product for LP as well?

Means it comes without a warranty. Don't buy aqua lung online.

It is probably genuine merchandise but may have come from obscure channels.

Gray Market

The items may not have full documentation, may have been acquired in a liquidation, may have been packaged for another country with the associated documentation, may be last years or older production or model and so forth.

It means LeisurePro doesn't obtain some of its merchandise through direct channels. Often a legitimate distributor will sell gobs of it to the gray merchandiser just to get larger volume discounts from the vendor.

It's tough to track, and has to be done one serial number at a time. However, if you try to get original equipment manufacturer service, direct from the vendor, it won't happen -- which is why typical "limited lifetime warranties" from Aqualung turn into 12 or 24 month warranties from LeisurePro. Not a big deal if you're buying a lift bag or backplate. However, a reg, computer, etc. is something else....
