I'll be in Cairns late this month. I've been spolied by the northern ribbon reefs and the coral sea in the past and have heard all the stories of the dead coral areas that the day boats frequent around Cairns. I'm bringing a friend this time who isn't certified, and I'm looking for the best one day trip there is out of Cairns or Port. What are the best reefs that are a 3-4 hour boat ride from Cairns? The only reef I've dove along the "outer reefs" is Norman, and it wasn't too bad... although I was told it was just that part of Norman reef (that Spirit of Freedom) parked that was the nice part. Any suggestions?
