I just got an old poseidon jetsuit, size medium, and would like to know what size lp hose to run to it.

The actual connector from the LP hose to the LPI on the suit is usually more of a deciding factor than anything. I suggest taking the suit in to your LDS to see what they have that fits; not all connectors work on all suit LPIs.

The short answer is the one that works. It should be just long enough so that it reaches the LPI without causing any restrictions and should not be too tight. On the other side, it should not loop around, nor be flopping around in any way either. Most of the guys and girls I dive with just paid the 20€ for a custom hose.

do you bring it over your sholder or under your arm and around?

You route the hose (AKA whip) from the 1st stage under your arm to the LPI on the front of your suit. You will also need to decide whether or not you want to run it under or over your BCD strap. Personally, I prefer running it UNDER the BC strap to keep things streamlined. However, make sure that the connector is always clear and accessible. Like your BCD, you should be able to connect and/or disconnect the drysuit LPI at any time.

Which side you run it on usually depends on where the port is on your 1st stage as well as which side the LPI is on the suit. That's why it's always useful to have as many ports on your 1st stage as possible that will handle the whip you have.

I know it sounds complicated, but honest.. it's not! :)

Simple answer - start with a 30" hose to get you diving. Get a custom length hose later if it's required for your body shape and regulator configuration. 30" should allow you to run the hose down your left side under your arm, and up to the valve, and give you some play depending on your regulator port configuration.

Most drysuit inlet valves I've seen use a "standard" LP inflator style connection.
