Thinking of tidying up my previously cable tie secured bungy cords on my sidemount rig and was wondering what size of hog rings I'll need. Currently trying out some bungy cord crimps which whilst looking quite tidy will probably cause more grief in the long run since they're only zinc plated and not stainless steel.

Nobody knows? A dealer has suggested that a 3/4" should work fine. Anybody?

If, by 'hog ring', you are referring the the crimping clamps, then the answer depends on the size bungee you are using. E.g.: Bungee Cord, Hooks, Clamps, Splicers, Pliers, reefscuba.com

Thanks Colliam7. That page makes it easier to order. The problem initially was with most dealers specifying them by the length of the wire bits themselves. Anyway, according to the dealer who'd gotten back to me, a 3/4" (I think he meant length) one will crimp two 1/4" (6mm) ones nicely together.

Mikko, if you have seen the bungee systems used by Dive Rite or Hollis, you'll notice that they are finished off pretty nicely with heat shrink tubing and you don't see loose ends or knots peeking out. Inside, I believe, they are crimped together with hog rings. Just too bad the cord crimps I got did not come in stainless steel.
