I just got a couple Scubapro instrument consoles (new, but from ebay), and both (pebax) HP hoses have this odd grey ring at the base of the threads. The regular o-ring is on top of that, (followed by the disposable thread-protecting cap).
This grey ring looks like something that would be discarded, but it's under the regular o-ring, so I'd have to remove the o-ring, then remove this grey ring, then reinstall the regular o-ring, which seems unlikely.
But it also seems odd that the hose would be installed with this weird grey ring on it.
I did some searching, and all photos I found didn't show this grey ring under the o-ring.
Any solid info is much appreciated.....
