Your looking at 20,000 a year as a instructor working at a dive shop. I have a regular job and teach independently and make up to $1000 a week to $0. It depends on the weather.

I'm supposed to be making money?

I make 7 figures teaching scuba.....if you include the $-sign and decimal point. As has been said in this and similar threads, there really is no way to make a reasonable living JUST teaching. To make a living in SCUBA, you either make or sell equipment....and how that is done is changing pretty dramatically right now.

I am guessing you are one of the many of us who has been bitten by the SCUBA BUG and are looking for ways to "..quit your day job and make SCUBA your vocation". I am not saying it can't be done, but its going to be hard work and you won't be just teaching

Just to give you an idea, I asked what a LDS pays for DM/captains. "$10-11/hr to start". It's not something you do to make a living.

I've heard that GUE pay pretty well, at least by comparison.

full time or part time teaching ??

working souly as a dive instructor or teaching and doing something else in the dive business ?

you need to have some specialist intructing certs - like cave diving / tech stuff - be a boat capt and an experience instructor / DM to make the best wages in a dive active town

Part time - big cities - they have more money
