Cozumel. Can't beat the prices and the diving is great. I stayed @ the Barracuda and dove w/ Dive Paradise. They pick you up right at the hotel's dock. Walking distance from town, for some good authentic cooking, providing you don't eat on the strip. It's a no frills kind of hotel but you are going to dive right ? Not stay in the room all day. Comfortable beds, nice showers and friendly people. I have gone there 3 years in a row and it's always the same people taking care of you. One thing about Cozumel, Consistent. You won't go wrong. Tell Apple that George from Chicago sent you. Chao Good Divin, George:thumb:

Sorry I havn't gotten back to you I'm going to college right now and it's finals so I've been a little stressed out to sa the least. ya I would like in to be in this hemisphere like mexican carribean or somthing.

Hullsner

P.S. thanks for the cozumel tip

Barracuda and Dive Paradise sounds like a great deal to me

Coz has long been one of the best deals in the greater Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico. There are many "small, white" hotels in and around downtown that are fully serviceable & inexpensive (I have a list of them). By working a multiple dive pacakge with an op, you'll get a better bargain on scuba. Look into Blue XT Sea Diving & tell Christi that I sent you http://bluextseadiving.com/divepackages.htm . She'll likely work you a deal.

While the diving is not quite as good (although chances decent to see whale sharks in season), also fun and relatively inexpensive is Utila http://www.roatanonline.com/maps.htm in the Honduras. Check out Mango Inn & Utila Dive Centre http://www.utiladivecenter.com/.

Also can do Belize at a reasonable price staying on Amergris Cay. Contact Gaz at http://www.divebelize.com/ and tell him that I sent you and what you are looking for.

Hope this gets you started.

In addition to Doc's recommendation of Ambergris, I would add Caye Caulker- it's cheaper than Ambergris, and far less developed- it can be reached from the Water Taxi terminal in Belize City, or puddle jumper from Belize airport.
When I was there, I dove with Patti & OJ at Paradise Down (http://www.paradisedown.com), and they were incredibly helpful (I left my PADI card in the States, and they played fax tag with PADI's offices in San Diego to verify my certification).
Caulker's a fine place to go if you're not looking for a whole lot to do besides diving.

Hullsner,

I notice you been diving for a couple of years and I assume you are finishing high school. Time and money are the most important factors. If you have the money and want to spend a week or two, then look real hard at Cozumel. The diving conditions are outstanding in all respects. Shop and you;ll find a good deal. Now, if you have a little more time and a little more money (not much) you should strongly consider Utila, Bay Islands. You can go to utila with nothing more than a backpack (take deet), walk on the island and find a good place to dive. If you are interested in doing a lot of inexpensive diving, and at the same time enhancing your diving credentials, then Utila is a great place. You can walk up to Countyplace, talk to Annie and get an apartment for $200-$250.00 per month. You can dive and do training all the way through instructor there. There are eleven dive operations on the island. Very competitive. Dive packages are about $125.00 for 10 dives. If your taking training, the diving is included. Some of the dive operators have their own lodging. Two of the more solid opeartions are Deep Blue Divers and Bay Islands College of Diving (BICD) The rest, you should check them out. So that' it, I suggest Cozumel or Utila.
