I am going to San Juan for business and am debating whether or not to lug along my dive gear.
I am only going for 1 week and will have very limited free time so a time-consuming excursion to another side of the island would probably be out.
If possible, I would like to be able to leave right out of San Juan so that I can "sneak away" one morning then be back for work in the afternoon...possible? Also, is the diving there even worth the hassle?

Thanks for advice/suggestions

If you're from Miami, the San Juan area will be a bit disappointing. I did exactly what you are describing a couple of years ago, diving out of Fajardo, ~45min east of San Juan. The reefs were interesting, but nothing to write home about. Still, it is another dive site, and it may well be worth the trouble of carrying a dive bag.

You might find some useful info on specific operators on Undercurrent.
