kelpmermaid:Reef Seekers does a once-a-month free night dive intro at Veterans' Park in Redondo. See their website for details... www.reefseekers.com
travelmadness:is that a class, or just a dive?
hermosadive:If you're looking to gain experience night diving I highly suggest you do what I did, hook up with the divers on http://divevets.com Right now we have a weekly night dive scheduled every Wednesday night, subject to conditions and changes. We meet in the Veteran's Park parking lot in Redondo Beach. No dive buddy is need, we pair up among the group and make sure there is adequate experience within each dive group. This has been an awesome learning experience for me and I've met some great people. Check the website message section to see what's going on. The board is very informal and subject to frequent crashes which is part of it's charm. You'll understand once you spend some time on the board or with the group.
As far as learning to hunt lobster, Underwater Kinetics is putting on a free Lobster Catching seminar. I don't have the flier in front of me, but I'm sure you can call their office and find out more. Unfortunately, its a weekeday seminar and takes place towards the San Diego area (Poway), http://www.uwkinetics.com/contact.htm
You could also check out the "California Lobster Diving" DVD, http://www.hammerheadpress.com/pages/CAbugvideo.html I haven't watched the video, so I couldn't give you a positive or negitive review.
I'm sure a few of us will be planning a beach dive for opening lobster night. Check the divevet's site closer to opening night to see what's planned. PM me if you have any questions. This will be my first season for bug hunting.
