I've noticed that a lot of divers keep a whistle fixed to the right shoulder strap of their BC. But from what I can tell, this would make it almost impossible to use, unless the diver has a very long and very flexible neck--not what I want in a safety device. So I'm wondering about the best place to keep a whistle--I don't want to put mine on my inflator hose because I don't like to clutter it up, and so I currently keep it in a BC pocket, on a long string. What do you all do?

I keep mine on my inflator hose. :D
I love the "roll around in some glue, then run through my LDS" look.

International Orange Storm Whistle, zip-tied to my inflator hose (see avatar). Big and ugly as hell, but hey... you can tell it's me underwater.

Why there? Because... well, because I've always done it that way. Besides, in an emergency, I won't have to dig in a pocket. Never had it get in the way underwater.

You just have to make sure the placement is right, before pulling the zip-tie tight.

International Orange Storm Whistle, zip-tied to my upper right D-ring on 1/8 bungee that' s juuuuust right.

Different approach - ziptied to the boltsnap on my 3' SMB.
(Doesn't that make the SMB a little awkward?)

Whistle clipped in a pocket, since it's the last-ditch backup for the siren that lives on the inflator hose.
