Longstocking:
Did I mention this is all FREE ! Air is paid for... just bring a lunch. Tax deduction too ! Most people bring their own gear but there is gear on the boat as well.

I am slightly confused by this statement. If it's all free, then what expenses are there to deduct? I was reading the link and it looks like you split the cost of the expedition, is that right? If so what is the average/common amount?

It's free. You can deduct food, gas etc. If you choose to bring your own tanks you can deduct the air as well. But there are about 10 tanks on the boat. If you want to rent equipment for yourself through your local dive shop.... you can decuct those as well. You are in affect "working" for Maryland.

No cost.... Dave has a grant from Maryland.
