Hello..
I just purchased Scubapro x-tek system with 40lb wing with SS plate and comfort harness..
i'm going to use it primarily with single tank 15-18L steel tanks.. my question is what is the best setup ?
do i have to order SP STA (80$) or i can just use two cam straps and pass them through plate\wing strap slots (wont this make the plate and wing loose while the tank not attached.. should i use two screws like STA ?

another question i read in the manual that the 40lb wing can carry 2x 12L tanks.. so could this setup possibly work with 2 s80 doubles and extra s80 as stage bottle ?

any sta should work, wings almost always have standard spacing for bolts. the xtek doesn't have stabilizer bars on the wing iirc, so you can just use cam bands, but the tank wobbles a bit going that route instead of the sta.

40lb is enough lift for doubles, but do you have the single tank donut or the doubles wing? the single tank donut isn't wide enough for doubles without pinching and the doubles wing is too wide and will taco for single tank.

I have the 40lb doubles wing.. so it can handle 3x s80 tanks doubles+stage ?
regarding the sta im trying to justify spending the extra 80$
so could you help me the pro and cons of each way.. how wobbling gonna affect my dive.. or the sta pushing the tank far from wing

the doubles wing will work fine for the doubles and stage, but it won't work well with a sta for single tanks. it is too wide, so it will taco.

from a previous thread on SB
Wing question.

i was told\read that the 30lb wing not enough for 18l tank+stage and i should take the 40lb
to my limited knowledge i went online and ordered the SP 40 wing didn't know there was two versions one smaller than the other.. only when received it i found its wide for just one tank.. which i thought its a good thing for future double upgrade.. but now im reading of the taco effect and how its gonna affect my trim\buoyancy.. so why they made the sta any way if its bad idea to use single tank on double wing? .. i checked the site i ordered form and there was no variations of the 40 wing so i assumed there is only one type..

The sta is intended to be used with the single tank wing. Some single tank wings also don't have holes for cam bands so you have to use the sta with them.
