YS 60TTL with SP350 and PT-030

I am considering buying the YS 60 from sea and sea and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this setup. I have found one for sale at my local dive shop but wanted to see if anyone has any input before I buy it. Thanks

I am not completely sure, but I don't think the YS 60 TTL is compatible with the Olympus system you have.

Their Olympus system chart shows only optical synch strobes compatible with the SP-350 camera:

The only direct TTL strobes are Olympus'. Some other strobes can be accomodated with an outside produced adapter. Check for posts by LarryC.

to use the YS-60 or any other Nikonos-type connection strobe, you need to modify the housing:

This will set you back $249 for the part and installation.

For what the PT-030 plus Heinrichs-Weikamp adapter cost, you should just buy an Ikelite housing. Then you get an optimal strobe-camera connection.

Thanks. I already have the pt-030 so that is not a option. The ys-60 is a used item and I would be buying it at such a good price $150 that if I buy a converter I will probally still come out pretty good as far as price. My real question I guess is does anyone have experience with this strobe and will I regret buying it instead of saving up and going bigger. Thanks

keep in mind, and someone correct me if i am wrong on this, but with the Ike housing some strobes(that are not Ike strobes) will not shoot TTL. as where with the Oly housing it seems alot them will. that H/W conversion is a nice peice. use it with the Nikonis 5 pin cable and your hooked up!! well worth the money!!
