Good stuff almitywife :)

I am struggling to find a buddy this weekend, two regular ones are busy so I hope I can get out :( Haven't had a dry week in AGES. Might just book on the Dive Vic boat on Sunday for two boat dives if I can't find a buddy... would rather only do one with shore dives but oh well better than no diving!

Well I could have dived today (Sunday) but I woosed out ... was too cold for me air temp 8°
and would have been diving right at the end of a run out tide so viz would more than likely have been very average.

Oh well maybe I can do a refresher at Lady Elliot ... (only two more weekends before we go) looks like that will be my next dive.

Going to Forster on Thursday. I live right int he middle of the WYD activities, so rather than risk a $5000 by "getting in the way", I chose to go photograph some Grey Nurses :D

Hopefully, the WYD people will have lots of fun, I know I will.

Z...

You lucky bugger ... I still have to go into the city for work, know where I would rather be gven the choice of Forster or the City with WYD ... no thats not fair even if WYD was not on I still would prefer to be at Forster.

Who are you diving with up there?

well i whimped out of diving... actually i didnt think Long Bay :l: was worthy of getting my drysuit wet

BUT

dive report, a frosty 15C with good viz

BUT

7 grey nurse sharks on the first dive, 2 on the second boat dive as they went in the wrong direction and about 8 on the 3rd boat dive i was told

BUT

i spent my day sitting in the park watching whales migrate north!!!!

had about a dozen of the buggers and the divers on boat dive 1 saw about 4 close up... how cool is that!

Great dive this morning at Drummonds Cove (just north of Geraldton WA). Vis wasn't great, but 5-7m wasn't too bad considering the swells around here of late. A bit of swell across the top of the reef, and a bit of surge underwater, but nothing terribly nasty. Water temp around 18-19 degrees, was a little chilly after 45 mins in the water. The next week is looking extremely ordinary again, with today and perhaps tomorrow being the best days for a while with the swell forecast at 6.5m on Saturday.

Wow, I'd love to see whales almitywife. I don't think they frequent Melbourne very often though. :( Did you get any pics of them?

I ended up getting out today. :) Had 10m vis for first two dives and 2m for night dive so not bad over all :) Went with a new buddy who is new to diving and also my regular buddy who just got back from a Cairnes diving trip in time to join me today (lucky b**tard!). We dived at Kelp Bed reefs and it was a great dive! We had a seal chase us around for a while, first time for me. :D Saw some PJ + banjo sharks, lots of blue devils, a cuttlefish and there were heaps of different fish out today. Great dive.

Then we dived at Portsea Pier for about an hour, saw schools of puffers, seahorse, lots of shrimp + crabs, and we found a banjo shark to take pics of, but we realised it was dead after a bit :( Poor thing had been caught by a hook. Also we saw a squid v crab battle and the squid was flashing between black and white, and squirting ink, very cool! Got a video so hope it turned out ok.

Finally me and my regular buddy did a night dive at Blairegowie, about 60mins in 11C. So yea, by the end of that dive I lost all feeling in my face, hands and feet :( I guess a third long dive was pushing it in wetsuits at that temperature. Great dive though, saw a really long pipefish, squid, sleeping leatherjackets (very cute!), stingarees, short tail nudis, and a bunch of other things I will have to ID from our pics.

Also I dropped 4 pounds today as I finally got smaller weights. Man it makes a huge difference! Diving is hardly any effort at all now, and it is so easy to stay neutral. Drained my tank to 15bar and was ok so think I've finally got my proper weight :)

Pics to come soon! My buddy's lost power at his house so can't get them tonight *cries*.

Edit: oh I forgot to say! I did my 50th dive today! :) Apparently in another 50 I have to be nude :O

Congratulations on the 50! :D My! I think it sounded more like you needed a dry suit today! I'll look forward to the pics!

I'm doing my RD course next week so I'll be getting in a few dives there!

Thanks! Hmm drysuit is out of the budget til next winter. :( Just gotta make another month or two and then the temperature should start to rise. :)

Good luck with your RD course!
