SkipperJohn: That's one mean fish at the first picture..

On topic: I ordered mine from Scuba, com (thanks jpdunc and Denise).
Bought the Pro set, and I'll add a second strobe down the road. It arrived in New York on time, and it will be here ( in Norway) by thursdag! :D Then it's onlye 6 days untill I leave for Australia and more diving. CAN'T WAIT! :D

wow, by the time you get to use that camera it will have more miles on it than my car!!!
Enjoy your trip!

How is the battery life on the DC800?
Do old strobes work with the DC800?

Thanks all!

The battery for the DC800 is 1250 mAh and should last for 2 tank dives, 2+ hours, or 200+ pictures. (It's almost twice the capacity of the DC600 battery).

Yes, all of the older models of SeaLife strobes will work with the DC800.

I hooked my SL960D flash up to my DC-800, just to try it out and it worked flawlessly. Actually, I think the new flash link ring works better than the one for the DC-500.

I just ordered the travel kit from leisure pro. I think this is mandatory. Not only a second battery but the ability to charge it form your wall outlet or car/boat without using the camera.

yeah skipper, when I ordered my camera, I also ordered a second battery but assumed the camera came with an external charger. Had I known it did not, I would have ordered the travel kit too. I think thats better than charging both in the camera. I wish you could buy just the charger, but it seems you have to buy the kit. I don't really need three batteries.
Maybe later. I just spent too much.

They do sell just the tray and it can be powered with the camera charger.

My DC800 Maxx Set arrived this week and I have to say that I am quite disappointed in the strobe arms.

They are plastic and are so flexible that the dual strobes seem too have too much play. I'm not talking about the strobes themselves. They can be separately tightened to be pretty rigid.

However, one connector attaches both strobe arms to the camera and I have significant concerns regarding their ability to hold up to the demands of boat diving and shared camera rinse tanks. It seems that one more rigid arm to attach both strobes would work better.

Has anyone had any problems with the strobe arms?
