You are not correct! LeisurePro is most definately a Oceanic Authorized reseller and as such new products sold by them come with a full manufacturers warranty. You can check for yourself on Oceanic's website. LeisurePro in located in New York.

I assumed they aren't Oceanic dealer as they are not listed as one of the authorized shops on buyocenic.com Are they listed under a different name?

If it's costing $650.00 chances are it's not coming with the transmitter. The VT3 & Atom 2.0 Completes run around $799.00. from authorized dealers.

I seems $650 is the current going price for either Aeris or Atom 2.0 - including one transmitter (but without the PC cable). 2008 Oceanic catalog listed PC cable as included with VT3 buy scuba.com says it isn't included in the similarly priced VT3 package.

Just for interest, why haven't you looked at the AERIS EPIC?

I looked at Aeris - it seems to be Atom 2.0 clone and most people on this board seem to go with Oceanic (even though its the same manufacturer). Of course it includes the PC cable into the $650 price. Anyone with Aeris Epic here?

Yes. Its a great computer.

I gave Leisure Pro a call and a 'whole' set including the computer (either VT3 or Atom 2.0) including transmitter, receiver and a PC cable is $625 + shipping. Seems like a great deal (if it was not for the new 2009 model 'OC1'). They also mentioned they aren't listed on Oceanic site but they are 'dealers'...and all warranty issues go directly through Oceanic.

Next question - should I wait for OC1 or will it come out at double the price of 2008 model line? It seems to include the digital compass and deep stop features...

If that's the VT3 or Atom 2.0 Complete, then that's a great deal.

Leisure Pro is listed as an authorized dealer on oceanicworldwide.com. You just have to look them up under their zip code as a brick&mortar store, not as an online retailer.

My guess on the price of the OC1 is that it will have an MSRP somewhere between the Datamask ($1495.99) and the VT3/Atom 2.0 Complete ($999.95). So probably in the $1100-$1200 MSRP range. From just what I read in the catalog, that's going to be one sweet PDC.

That is their price for the complete set (is there anything else included in Atom 2.0 Complete?) Datamask is on sale for $1200 these days...

The Atom 2.0 comes with a screen protector disk (thin self adhesive) and a thick screen protector that slips on for diving.
The Atom 2.0 and VT3 are sweet computers in their own right and with the pricing you've found I wouldn't wait on the OC1.
New latest and greatest is nice for many things but for diving I prefer to let others discover any flaws. With the Atom 2.0 and VT3 there is a large user base and the computers have a very good track record only the logging software needs work.

I recently got an Atom 2.0 w/ transmitter. Have logged about 8 dives with it and absolutely love it!! before it i used either analog gauges or non air integrated suuntos. the suuntos were ok but having them on the console was a major PIA in my opinion. the wrist mount works a LOT better for me and the small size of the Atom 2, compared to "hockey puck" sized computers, is much more comfortable for me. It is a very nice computer, i don't think you can go wrong with it.

I have to say, for me, it took a while to get used to the screens and the way the information is organized, the settings and such. and the manual was pretty intimidating. but once you read a little and take it out on a dive it is much easier than it seems. any computer will have a learning curve associated with it, it just a matter of getting used to it. and unless you are doing nitrox or deco dives the defaults settings are all you will need.

in fact, what i found out (after reading the manual), is that you can pretty much take it out of the box put the transmitter on your reg and take it out on a dive, without ever touching a button (other than turning it on; it comes on a "hibernating" mode from the factory to conserve battery power) or reading a page on the manual and it will safely take you through a regular plain-air dive, safety stop and all.

CHEERS and safe diving!
