Actually I think his issue was with BP/W being the solution to every one of life's problems for some people. I have seen it with a couple people and just walked away from it.

I am just now moving to the "grown-up table" with a BP/W but have enjoyed every single one of my dives with my poodle jacket :D (even if I do look like a stroke :rofl3:).

I dived a jacket BCD for 25 years and I'm so glad I did, without that experience I would never be able to appreciate my BP/W as much as I do.

Dear BP/W-philes,....

The point is that I travel to many of my dive sites and a nice travel BC suits me just fine.

I suspect my BP/W travel rig is less load in the suitcase than your travel BCD. And that is including the usual SS D-rings and double tank straps with metal buckles. No doubt you can dive quite adequately in a decent travel BCD. It is not that most std BCDs don't work. It is just that they often cost more to acquire and maintain, provide less flexibility, and are not as stable as a BP/W.

So by your own admission you are questioning a product you know virtually nothing about? That's just brilliant.:shakehead:

SO giving advise on a subject one is not familiar with...should sit in the corner and listen, then go and try it, then come back and give a review of the experience.

My post was designed to draw attention to the fact that some people who love the BP/W setup have a tendency to not read a post, rather, they respond by promoting or defending BP/W regardless of what was asked.

scarefaceDM and ONESPEED, you both made my point for me, brilliantly.

BTW, you made my point for me, brilliantly.

By diving a BPW, you'll see the world through rose colored glasses. The sky will be bluer, the grass will be greener. You'll hear waves crashing on the beach and be able to smell the ocean. Young children will follow you around capering at your feet and grown women will rip their blouse open and thrust their bosoms towards you as you pass by. Birds will sing sweeter, dogs will quit chasing cats, global warming will end you wont die, ever.

Oh, and it will also cure that inner ear problem too. :D

Wouldn't that be considered "trolling"?

By diving a [-]BPW[/-] sidemount, you'll see the world through rose colored glasses. The sky will be bluer, the grass will be greener. Oh, and it will also cure that [-]inner ear[/-] impotence problem too. :D

Fixed that for ya.

Well, at least I added some value to an otherwise useless thread. Nice snorkel, btw.

:rofl3: You are hilarious! Next, are you going to tell me that my mother dresses me funny, or that your daddy can beat up my daddy?

Yes, it is a pretty snorkel, isn't it? It is a cheap US Diver setup - I snorkeled for years before I took up scuba, and that was the gear that I bought as a poor student. And I have logged way fewer dives than you. And I have been certified for a much shorter time than you.

But you know what? I can read a question and keep my response on-topic.

PS - I have since dropped the snorkel from my gear.

Is that because you went to a BPW and now you're able to keep your head higher out of the water, thus negating your need for a snorkel?

In truth, I went to a longer hose on my primary and, in practicing being a donor, I found (unsurprisingly) that the snorkel catches the hose. Don't tell anyone about the longer hose, the octo necklace, or the spring straps - I am afraid that people might call me on being a self-proclaimed DIW practitioner and refer to me instead as DICE. :)
