That's why it's often better to handle things in person.

I will say that I find it particularly disgusting that an individual has been trashed repeatedly, by name, throughout this thread. A person that is a SB member and who can see everything that each of you has had to say. What's even more despicable is the fact that a few of you KNOW this.

Outside of being completely ripped off, I am willing to let anything slide once or twice. But that's the thing about diving. We attract the melodramatic. It's your right to feel however you feel, but a little tact goes a long way - and it's something I almost NEVER see in this area of the forum.

Thanks for the preachy post, I said it publicly because the nonsense has to stop. I wasn't trashing anyone, merely stating and documenting facts. Anyone telling divers to not worry about analyzing tanks has no place working in the dive industry. I make no apologies for speaking my mind or telling it like it is.

I will not respect the fireman that comes into my burning house and says "Here, hold this can of gasoline for me". Point is, her direction could easily have gotten someone hurt. And that is not considering just how stupid a statement it was for ANY diver working in a dive shop. If she is endangering people's lives, why should she get an special treatment? Other sites and operations do not get that special "undisclosed" treatment. I would want to know who said something that stupid so that I did not listen to anything they had to say......how many other ways is she endaging people? I for one would rather not find out the hard way.

What Chip and Steve said. Nobody called her names, nobody said anything catty, nobody was disrespectful. The concern is for an employee with nearly three months' experience with this dive op (and several months' experience with two other Key Largo dive ops) who is still not trained in proper gas procedures or cashiering.

Skim, what is your personal stake in this situation? Why would we treat a Key Largo dive shop employee different, just because she happens to belong to ScubaBoard, than we would a dive shop employee elsewhere? It's not like she's the only dive shop employee who has ever gotten constructive criticism on here. Someone could be hurt! I for one am glad that we got Captain Larry's attention so that he can remedy the situation.

I started this tread because I was looking into prices for my annual trip. I liked the fact that Garden Cove had double dips and then a reef. It caught my attention, espically for the price. THe reason I expected a certain response is due to the fact that I never hear anyone talk about this shop. I don;t live in Key Largo but, do visit once a year for the soul purpose of diving. I don;t have time to deal with a shop if it has poor customer service (not saying GArden Cove does). As far as I am concerned when I email you that is as if I called you. A response is waranted in every situation. Without the customer the business does not exsisit. As far as Garden Cove is considered the 3 tank trip looked good. You might want to think about getting 12 larger nitrox tanks to offer for the double dips. If this would have been the case I would have booked in a heart beat. A larger tank while staying within deco limits allows me to get more dive for my money. Just a suggestion to Garden Cove. Good Luck. By the way this forum is for knowledge (at least my opinion) not nicey nicey.

Thanks to all.

I won't argue over what's considered catty, disrespectful or otherwise. My entire point is nothing more than this - that things could have been handled with a little more class.

95% of what was said could have been said in a PM to concerned individuals.

What's hard to understand about that? :idk:

Thanks for the disdainful reply. Par for the course.

The point is moot. People make mistakes. That doesn't mean that they are undeserving of even the slightest bit of respect.

Seems to me you're the only one slinging any mud here, everyone else is just stating fact and concern over a glaring issue, I commend those deserving and call out those not doing their jobs. I'm not going to sugar coat a very serious issue because it may hurt someone's feelings.

So what you're saying is dangerous practices should be hush hush and handled with kid gloves? I see nothing wrong with calling someone out for recurring issues, this is hardly an isolated incident but just one of a long string of issues that perhaps you are not aware of, at some point you have to realize silence has not worked and speak up.

Hardly. I guess alternative viewpoints aren't welcome around here. Noted. The fact of the matter is that people you respect to begin with often get more leeway than those you don't. I know where the lot of you stand on this one. Had it been someone you held in higher regard you would have not been so quick to throw them to the wolves. Saying anything to the contrary is utter horse:turd: - so spare me.

That's a semantically self-serving way of skewing the point. No, that's not what I'm saying and you know it.

And because it could endanger someone's very life!!!
