Well this isn't a pet peeve, which would suggest that it happens from time to time. More of a peeve because it only happened once.

When I was doing my OW cert 5 years ago I was to swim around the pool with a partner(who was to guide me) with no mask on. After the instructor signaled for me to take my mask off, my dimwitted partner(who was 12, I might add he didn't do hardly any of his bookwork, and is just all around not a very attentive person) did not grab my BCD and guide me like he was directed to. Rather, he just floated stupidly, staring into space, while the instructor had moved on to instruct someone else, and never guided me. I ended up putting my mask on, clearing it, the DM shook his BCD to signal his to take his off(my partner STILL not paying attention, having only removed it when he came to at his convenience) and I had to guide him around the pool.

After the skill was completed and we had surfaced, the DM asked him why he had not payed attention, told him the consequences of such act, etc. His response was: "I was looking at the others throwing the little torpedo thing."

The others had already completed the skill and the other instructor was working with them on neutral buoyancy, throwing the torpedo to and from them to demonstrate neutral buoyancy

Excess baggage/weight fees. Boy have they ever discovered the revenue majic in PNG and Indonesia! I am downsizing and lightening our gear as fast as I can but we can't keep up!

Elitist divers who complain about newbies and forgot THEY were newbies once. You were not born with perfect bouyancy skills, I am learning as fast as I can .

People who don't respect the reef. It's ok if you have buoyancy problems but know you have those problems and add a safety factor. I hate seeing the reef get pummeled :(

Poor propulsion techniques in caverns and caves.

Smashing,bumping,hitting,walking on the reefs

Divers that think they know everything and look down on you because u dont dive like them.

The many negative attitudes on this board i see from time to time.

Divers who are lucky enough to live close to warm water and then whine about having to wear a 3mm suit. After fighting my way into my drysuit or semi-dry whenever I want to go diving I don't want to hear about it...:coolingoff:

I dislike that I cannot like this more than once!!!!!

+1 on the divers beating up the reef. Some care, and are obviously trying not to, and others . . . :shakehead:

OK, I have an old grudge against the Belize Weather Service online. It's always, 5-15 mph winds, or 10-20 mph with a chance of showers. It is...WAS...disappointing to wake up, ready to go and look outside to see howling winds, which my boat isn't really capable of handling.
But, that's the past. I now have this site and it looks good for this weekend. hah. Windfinder - Wind & weather forecast Belize
