Yes, I read the first article, and I think its a silly and convoluted equipment config. Special hoses, special valve guards, valves away from your head so you can't hear the location of a leak, your buddy has to be up in your butt to try and fix a leak of it should occurr or if you get snagged on some line back there. No thanks.

When I 1st started diving ID's back in the 80's I considered an inverted setup. I almost bought a Divator rig from Europe. There was also the expense of longer hoses if I did my own inverted setup. Recently I've been looking at SM. But I never have had much in the way of spare cash, being just a lower middle income blue collar working stiff. So I went with what I could afford, BM ID's. They work for me and have served me well for 30 years. Heck if I had $$$$ I'd be looking at a rebreather!

I suppose to the 99% who dive the way PADI sets up their reg sets, 7' and b/u hoses are special lengths too. To those who dive ID's an iso manifold looks "special" and when some watch others doing a full valve shutdown drill they might think.. convoluted.

I've always considered myself lucky that I haven't gotten my wheels stuck in a rut on my journey down the diving path. This openness has allowed me to appreciate how the rest of the world, not just my little corner of it, dives.
If one starts from 0 and just take a system at face value you can see the pros and cons of it without bias. If diving a special application you may see how one has certain benefits that fit better than some others but you can also see that in other applications other systems may have benefits that are more appealing. For general diving almost any system can work well so it really comes down to personal preference.
I try not to knock someones choice just because their personal preference isn't mine.

the rebreather guys seem to manage ok

Apples and oranges. Rebreather diving doe not equal OC diving. The inverted tanks have radically different purposes on CCRs (which I'm not a huge fan of, anyways).

you have to be able to turn them on and off.

whats radical about that?

Who has their o2 and dil tanks on an iso manifold? No one. Who is using lp104s for o2 and dil? No one. Most of the guys I see out and about have sidemounted OC bailout.

if you can't see the difference between OC and RB, i cant help you. and btw, I'd contend that a lot of RB guys don't seem to be doing ok, but perhaps thats something for another forum.

you should get out more

Wheres the isolator? And those aren't 104s, and by the looks of it, they aren't your OC bailout, either (can't really tell with any certainty from that pic. Not a lot of volume if it is).

You're making my point over and over. Keep it up!
