Forgive my ignorance but I have a question. I regularly dive a singles BP/W setup with an STA. I own some doubles now. They came with the tank bands and manifold from the shop already to go. My wing has 3 sets of eyelet holes that the tank band screws can go through allowing you to move the wing higher or lower with regard to the tanks. I gather that which sets of holes I use will be trial and error as to what I like. my question is Do I simply put my tank band screws through those holes and then through my backplate and screw down using the provided bolts or am I missing something? My wing also has what looks like vertical slots (camband slots?)...do those not get used for anything with doubles? Should they included washers or anything? Does the wing simply get sandwiched between the plate and tank bands? Please forgive my ignorance.

Yes.

Bolts from tank bands through holes in wing, through holes in BP. Put supplied wing nuts on bolts to hold it all together.

Which holes you go through on wing and BP are trial-and-error to dial in your trim.

Correct, vertical slots on wing do not get used.

These thumbwheels are a nice (and cheap) alternative to wing nuts.

wing nuts to secure the tanks to the plate, wing sandwiched between with the bolts through the grommets. Web slots are for single tanks.

Is your wing wide enough for doubles? A single tank wing will not work with doubles. There are some "do both" wings, but in all honesty, the do neither well....

Good point! Totally agree. OP you should definitely not try to dive with your doubles if you only have a single tank wing. You'll likely find yourself on the bottom with no way get yourself and your tanks back to the surface!

I have a Dive Rite Rec EXP wing. It is billed as one of those "do both" wings. I wouldn't use it for single tank diving. But, I like it very much for diving with 7.25" doubles. Just the right amount of lift, but not too much, so not too bulky and no extra, unnecessary drag in the water. I would say it's a "do both" wing that does do 7.25" doubles well.

thanks for the concern. It is a doubles wing. It is an oxycheq 55lbs lift with dual bladders. Might be a bit on the high lift capacity side and I know the argument for dual bladders Vs singles but I got it for a steal from a buddy.

This is my wing.

My doubles are each 5.5 ", and the two bottles weigh about 30 lbs total. All doubles are not the same. There are still some triple manifolds around too.

On deeper dives I position a 12cf bailout upside down with its own reg between the twin 40s. True redundancy in a smaller nicely balanced and streamlined package.

Find a mentor or hire an instructor for a basic "Intro to doubles" There a "few" things about set up and operation that are better understood *before* you hit the water.

Good luck,
