    Where to Go in November/December?

So I want to do a liveaboard trip in November/December and I'm trying to figure out a good place to go. I'm a little spoiled by the Galapagos, Cocos Island, and Socorro Island (my last 3 liveaboard trips). I'm just wondering if there's anything comparable on the Atlantic or the Pacific. The sea...

Great White Shark Breaching in South Africa

Hello, I want to do a great white shark cage dive while I'm in South Africa, but I would also like to do it in an area where I have a chance to see a great white shark breach. From my understanding, the sharks breach in the Mossel Bay area near seal island. Do they also breach in the Gaansbaai...

Buying Gloves For a Galapagos trip

I was starting to think that my 5mm might not be warm enough but it sounds like it'll be just fine. Although I'm a little worried that with the warmer temps the whale sharks might stay away. My flight to ecuador leaves tomorrow!

Buying Gloves For a Galapagos trip

Would you all recommend using a reef hook or are the currents so strong that you're just going to have to grab on with both hands and hug the rock? Also what are the dive profiles like? Is nitrox recommended?

    Where to fly into?

Is there some place to store your dive gear in Quito so you won't have to carry all your gear with you?

Antigua: Dive boat leaves behind two scuba divers

I'm guessing they probably would have died if they didn't have wives to ask where they were?

    Galapagos - Ecuadorean Presidential Decree

I'm booked for June of 2008. I too booked with Deep Blue after reading good reviews on SB. It's far enough in advance that I can probably get a full refund on my deposit, but I've been sooo looking forward to the Galapagos. I've considered it my vacation of a lifetime. I feel incredibly bad for...

Some video I took of Dolphin diving the Red Sea

I think we were at a depth of around 30-40ft. They were swimming around us for quite a bit before I thought to take out the damn camera and start filming. It's the closest I've been to dolphin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQxrOf2lOis

    Who Still Sells the PT-030

A lot of places that I look are out of stock. Can anyone recommend an online store (that isn't too expensive) who still carries the PT-030? Thanks!

Should a wetsuit be a little tight under the armpit?

That's what I'm thinking. It's not restrictive ... just slightly uncomfortable because of the stiching. SOmething I don't think I can get around. Anyway since it's a 5mm suit I think I'd rather it be form fitting and slightly uncomfortable under the arms than loose and cold.

Should a wetsuit be a little tight under the armpit?

I don't think I have excorbitantly large shoulders or anything. I'm 5'6" around 130 pounds, wear size 30 pants, and wear a size 14.5 button down with 32/33 sleeves. I got an XS which I pretty much fit the henderson size charts to a tee: http://www.hendersonusa.com/size_charts.html I'm trying...

Should a wetsuit be a little tight under the armpit?

I just bought my first wetsuit, a henderson thermoprene suit and it fits like a glove everywhere except underneath the armpits. It's not that it's restrictive, I can move my arms in every direction. It's just when I have my arms at my side It feels slightly abrasive underneath the armpits where...

Do you need PADI AOW for the "Simply the Best" tour(Brothers, Elphinstone, Daedalus)?

I have more than 50 dives, but I keep hearing rumors that you need a PADI AOW or an equivalent. Can anyone confirm one way or another? I would rather not have to deal with the formalities of PADI training when I know I'm well qualified to handle strong currents. (Dove in Galapagos and Cozzy).

    Dive Gear Storage in Cairo?

There is a baggage check at the Train station in Cairo which apparently costs E£2.50 per day. I'm not sure how safe it is. I myself am in such a predicament as I'm arriving in Hurghada, and need to find a place to store my dive gear there while I'm travelling to Luxor and Cairo for the week...

    Renting a Car from Hurghada?

How difficult/expensive would it be to rent a car in Hurghada to drive around Egypt? I have 7 days to spend on the mainland and I'd like to cram in a trip to Cairo, Luxor, and a desert safari before I go on a liveaboard in the Red Sea. It seems that the best way to do all those things in such a...

Getting surgery for chronic sinusitis ... is it worth the risks?

So I have chronic sinusitis that does not bother me at all except when I fly or dive. When I fly, I get what's equivalent to a pressure induced migraine ... it can get to be so bad that my eyeball starts to hurt. When I dive, it's impossible for me to descend more than 10ft without sudafed...

Rare primitive shark captured on film
