    Amitriptyline for pain?

This is an old thread but I thought I'd add my experiences of diving on Amitriptyline. I should add that these are MY experiences and may not be yours should you decide to dive while taking Amitriptyline. I went to my GP with various symptoms, a tremor, unable to sleep, sweating etc. He wasn't...

The thread to end all "are the ebay scooters good?"

Ditto - the cheaper scooters are sealed. As far as I can tell there is no way to get to the gears or prop seal without cutting it up (which is what I'll do when one dies so I can see how it's assembled). Paul.

The thread to end all "are the ebay scooters good?"

    1. Rinse with fresh water. There is very little else you can do with them - most of it is sealed. 2. 45 minutes to 1 hour. You will use the second speed all the time. If you want the twin speed version, make sure it is 200 watt and that it has the two bladed prop. The handle is different on...

The thread to end all "are the ebay scooters good?"

Maybe in the US. In the south east of England it's fenland - completely flat with no caves and the lakes are lined with clay, chalk or peat so vis is pretty rubbish (that's why we dive in Wales). Most people wanting to use a dpv are going for either advanced open water or want an extra cert for...

The thread to end all "are the ebay scooters good?"

Close - it's Vivian. They've been in Dory as well - I take the ballast out and use them to tow me out to the central buoys - it's a long swim with deco cylinders. I just clip them to the buoy at the surface. It's a nice way to get back to shore as well. P.

The thread to end all "are the ebay scooters good?"

You've got 5 Gavins have you ? Unfortunately I don't have £20K spare and recouping that sort of outlay is impossible unless you live next to a lake or the sea and have a lot of rental opportunities.

DIY Housing goes to 146 metres before failing

Yes, good idea. 2000 FSW is pretty impressive. Unfortunately the majority of tanks here in the UK a steel so it rare to see aluminium tanks that have failed a test (or at all) here. Techies use them for deco cylinders as they have better buoyancy characteristics. I might ask around the local...

    Servicing Apeks Regulators

I did the service course with Apeks in the UK as I'm an Instructor with my local dive centre and help with servicing as well. This is the only way you can be officially certified as an Apeks service tech here in the UK as far as I'm aware. However you still cannot buy parts from them directly -...

    DIY Video Housing a success...

OK, as promised I tested if a flat plate would work without a top hat. It does but there are limits. First I took one of my end plates and machined the top hat further in to allow room for the o ring to push into the housing under pressure. This shot shows the o ring and the edge of the top hat...

    DIY Video Housing a success...

That's a very good point and you are correct, however the area of the face is huge compared to the area of the outer edge of the o ring so the force squashing it against the edge of the tube is high compared to the force trying to push it into the tube. All my units have a top hat but I was...

DIY Housing goes to 146 metres before failing

Yes but this is the DIY discussion so we all WANT to make them ourselves - it's not all about cost. Also what do you do with your 30 metre camera when the wreck is at 40 metres and who is going to supply you with spares etc for the next 5 years. I'd be surprised if it wasn't obsolete in a year...

    DIY Video Housing a success...

If you are going to enclose the o ring on it's outer edge then you don't need to bother with the top hat shape for the plexiglass - you can use a flat piece. This means you don't have to worry too much about the finish of the outer edges of the lenses as they will seal on the flat face which...

    ABS Pipe for Housings?

Planes and Helis when I get the time. I'm also building the scratch 1/8 Tiger tank which will be fully RC - follow the links. I don't watch much TV and I have a heater in my shed - that leaves cold nights to make stuff and go diving at the weekends :D Current project is also a very fast DPV -...

    ABS Pipe for Housings?

Cheetah, I made a housing from ABS. The reason was I found it much easier to glue than PVC as it melts using that Acetone based glue. I don't think the burst pressures quoted before in this thread are going to be an issue. Pressure is different when trying to crush things as opposed to trying to...

    Full DIY Gear

I've been reading this thread with interest. I've also thought that it would be cool to try and make a reg just to see how feasible it is to do it (I consider myself to be a competent machinist). I also dive Apeks and service them myself and would certainly use that design as a starting point...
