I was highly surprised with the diving around Playa del Carmen, I am sure that you are going to have a great time. Make sure to do some Cenote diving and at least one day in Cozumel. The ferry dock is only 10 minutes taxi ride from the Reef Club. Have fun!!

I recommend Ocotal Resort and their dive operation, very professional and the resort is a great place to stay. Dive for sure Bat Island and the Catalinas and on land try to take the time to visit Arenal Volcano

Rent a car and go to Guanacaste, good diving and close to Ollies Point and Ruca Bruja for some quality surfing. You can stay at Ocotal, great place and very professional dive operation. You can get on a boat from Playa del Coco, 5 minutes from resort, and surf those two surf sports.
