yep, but we tied it to the bottom with a long rope :)

So did Kawika. Though that didn't turn out so well. Be careful out there guys. That is a forbidding coast line and there is little in the way of support.

Glad you had a good dive.

Glad you had a good dive.

Kawika was solo, 5 miles off the Mendicino coast, diving Blunt's Reef. And by the looks of it, his anchor got really stuck.

With damn near all of the boat diving in Monterey and Carmel you could swim back to shore. You might not be happy about it, but you can make it back.

I'll also frequently run a reel, but on this day there was absolutely no current.

Lobos Rocks isn't Monterey or Carmel its Big Sur. Forbidding coast lines with tall cliffs. Nobody around on shore. No shelter from wind, waves, or weather. No support or help likely. Its a very exposed place.

Conditions can and will change while you are underwater. It could be something as simple as a wind shift that pushes your anchored boat into the rocks.

Anyway, as I said, glad you had a good time.

Lobos Rocks

If you want to get into a pissing match about Lobos Rocks, have at it but I'm not going to join in.

I've been there more times than I can count, and have even shore dived the area quite a bit.

I could care less what you or your group thinks is "safe," but let's put your group's (and you know damn well what "group" I speak of) safety record up against mine, either in raw numbers or statistically.

Besides we had big knifes :).
As for shore line by lobos rocks it had several beaches, million dollar houses and a McDonalds. KMD we really do know (did we really?) what we were doing, just face it you upset not getting into water that weekend, its ok brother, next time go with us:)

Not really that upset as that weekend we dove Sur 19 on Big Sur Banks and then dove Lobos Rocks. :)
