great thanks for the advice. Im thinking about getting a seaquest Pro QD plus BCD. Does seaquest make an integrated inflator/octo? And is it worth getting rather than the SP R295? Just the thought of having a better alternate in case of emergency kind of makes me feel a little better. Is the SP R295 much better than the integrated inflator/octo that seaquest makes? thanks for any info
 
seaquest/aqualung has a new combo inflator octo out that looks to be real nice and i think they are including it on a couple of models of bcd. I personally have dove with a standard octo and a atomics ss1 inflator octo (it breathes better than a lot of main regs), i wont go back to a standard octo, i like the loss of a hose too much, the main thing is you will want to practice a little bit as you have to give your buddy your main reg while you breath off the inflator octo, as for controlling ascent, its quite simple, just use your top dump valve to drop air, it takes a little practice but in a short time you will get used to it.
