I agree with diverrick that the abbreviations and acronyms are hard to decipher at times. I printed dandydon's list as a reference but I wonder if it is possible to have another button available at the bottom of each post to easily access an index of all such acronyms and abbreviations from within the post. It might even include a means of submitting previously unlisted or new acronyms and abbreviations for inclusion into the index. Sound worthwhile to anyone else?

I tried this, works for me, copy & paste List to a New Text icon
on your desktop, then when you want to access the List, just
minimize Scubaboard screen and double click Acronims Icon.
If you want, you can leave List in background and just toggle
back and forth.

It's not that weird...over here the YMCA teaches scuba (and has quite a nice program from what I hear). It's not like he added NAMBLA or something.. :D
Well I have learnt something - never knew that about the YMCA!! :D

Here's a few to get you started.

CF
BWOD
DIOL
RBOD
80/80

A search will help you find what these ones mean

Here's a few to get you started.

CF = Cluster... uhh.... Fart
BWOD = Bondage Wings Of Death
DIOL = Diagonal Inflator Of Life
RBOD = Red Buttons Of Death (I thought they were Orange)
80/80 = WTF? :)

IF it is the same thing...

80 foot of viz
80 degrees air temp
80 degrees water temp

Usage-"ever dive around here (the Northeast)?" My son's reply "heck no! I'm an 80/80/80 diver!"

Hehehe...yeah, they are kinda "safety orange"...OBOD's...yeah, that's right.

Also BWOD...can also be "bungied" interchangeably with "bondage".

I heard 80/80 as using an Aluminum 80 in 80 degree water temperature...average tropical tourist diving.

Greetings:

Wow, I can't thank dandydon enough for posting that list. As a new OW, it sure is coming in handy.

I have it printed out, and will keep it next to me as my "ScubaBoard Reference Card", haha.
