Had a nice relatively warm dive in Lake Quassapaug today. Only a shorty and some layers. Spotted this American Eel in about 15 ft of water. Had to chase it the entire video, it just would not stop.

Some other pics as well. Old bottles, cell phone, curious one eyed fish.

Neat,
I didn't realize the American eel went so far inland (cool). We have juvenile elvers that you can find under rocks in some of our estuaries. Years ago I put a couple in our saltwater tank and they grew large pretty quick and put them back in the estuary. Pretty interesting life how they make it back to the sargasso sea at some point in there lives. Was your one eyed fish a sunfish?.

The one eyed is definitely in the sunny family, a blue gill? My fresh water fish id not the strongest.

Another view from the side.

I have a friend who is looking to dive in Lake Quassapaug. Would you happen to have any advice in access points, restrictions, or permissions?

As far as I know there is no public access to Lake Q. There are bunch of private homes and some private clubs. There is an amusement park that includes beach access but not sure they would permit diving. Is your friend looking to dive it from shore or by boat and if boat what type? There is a fishermen's club that has a boat ramp but it is private. There is also another place called Sandy Beach with boat access but again I believe it is private.

Tom I subscribed to your Youtube Channel. Why dive that "pond"? The best, cleanest lake in Connecticut is only 25 minutes from there! Whenever you're ready I'll show it to you.
