I agree wtih Epi on the SSI approach.

The PADI AOW approach is just a necessary step to get to the Rescue course where the training is much more useful. If you can do a better 'advanced' course then that is always the better option.

I didn't really learn much on my PADI AOW that I wouldn't have got from just doing more diving with a good mentor.
