Athens has announced they will be open again on Saturday Aug 22nd @ 8am for diving. they are saying 15' vis@ 15' depth.

They haven't been open all summer. They said due to "0" visiblilty. But last I spoke with them they had figured out how to make all of the minerals settle to the bottom and clear it up.

Is good visibility the new standard for scuba parks in Texas? I missed the memo :)

They've used alum in the past to cause particulates to clump together and then fall to the bottom. Maybe it's time for another dose...

The problem with vis was from last year when the hurricane came and sat over the East Texas area. It messed with the content of the ground water which affected their vis.
