I've been off the board for about 5 months; just got back yesterday so maybe this has already been discussed. I stay at the Iberostar Quetzal when I go to Mex. Last Feb. I noticed a definite loss of beach especially the resorts just down from Playa. I actually had to look up at the ground level from the beach in front of, I think, The Hideaway or the Rui (sp). They were sandbagging and removing palms that were about to fall over from the beach erosion. The Iberostar's beach was still in pretty good condition. My question is this: What did Emily do to those beaches? What kind of condition are they in now? I'm planning another trip this winter and I love the beach. If the beach isn't there, I'm making different plans.

Hi Barracuda! it's been a while.

from what I'm hearing from friends in the Playa del Carmen area (& further south) the beaches are better than ever. saw a picture on another board & the beach is much larger than when Geoff & I were there in April. you should be fine for a winter trip. we'll be heading back down there in November. I'll let you know what we find when we get there.
